Sketches by Sonaal Bangera

Memories

Memories are the archives of Times,
As we live, we compose those rhymes.

some r sweet some r sour
some r bright some r hazy

some bring in that broad smile
some bring in the blue Nile

some steer our lives to a new direction
some halt for a long time in one destination

some guide u like a shining star
some remind u of a hurting scar

Memories are the archives of Times
As we live, we compose those rhymes!

Dr.Arthur 51 rule...

We are having a great time learning, unlearning, discussing and debating in Dr. Arthur's class. The best part is that he interacts with us in such an approachable way. Had a good time preparing for and presenting the critique of the MPSP (main prog sub prog) archi...Sonaal and Baldi were their usual creative best with the ppt master. What with the curvy lens effect on the title and all..simply soooperb! Javed and I had taken the mantle of presenting the ideas of our group (3). We did a decent job I guess...The context, our evaluation criteria and the critique layout went down well with the profs. Dr. Arthur congratulated both the groups.. 1 and 3..for a superlative effort. Prof. Gogate's words were also encouraging. After a hectic day of sessions and presentations, Dr. Arthur took a vote on whether or not to continue the sessions. A moment later he jokingly said that he reserved 51% stake in the voting :))

Earlier in the day, we discussed about the metrics management...Raleigh curve - staffing plan..mean time to failure etc. Dr. Arthur has a vast experience working for the DoD (Dept. of Defence, USA). He has worked on the Tomahawk Cruise Missile ground support system software. He also recollected how while working on SLBM, his team had to work on migration from Fortran to an OO language...and how one person from the client's side wanted to push C++ more than Java.

Dr. Arthur is a fan of tandoori chicken. He peppers his conversation with Hindi words like 'bachchon ka khel' and 'chai'. Know what, he owns a motor boat back home...enjoys fishing. He has recommended Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry and Tom Hanks' Apollo 13 for us to watch. So far we have had one *pop* quiz!

So, people..who handles a project that has budget and schedule over-runs and no metrics whatsoever? The class fervently shouts in unison... IIMmer.

It's bedtime folks...

Ganga
